TV

Say Radio: Music for the masses - but let's not forget about the TV.

I'm Jeremy Buch (Buck), and I admit I watch a lot of online stuff.

There are times when you sit at home trying, wasting time - especially in bed. Television nowadays is ruled by reality tv, and that's not something everyone wants to watch.

Aside from the popular HBO shows, the dramas, and the amazing quality you find on TLC...there are some pretty great internet shows that offer a whopping dose of comedy, realism, and relatable content. There are also short videos that entertain, inform and increase awareness of local and world issues, all worth taking the time to watch.

I've added a convenient rating system - a "Buck" will be the unit of measurement, and it will be out of 5.

"Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world"

Ted is a website that promotes intellectual, simplistic, helpful and discussion-raising content. I have watched TedTalks in the Portuguese language about communication, and how using simplistic language is beneficial to the world, in place of using $10 words. There is a variety of content available on Ted, from learning about the natural world, to learning how to love better.

You can browse a directory on Ted that will display talks or speakers by content, and I guarantee you will learn something.

Knowledge is a weapon you can arm yourself with in life, and Ted promotes discussion and learning. Check it out!

Sandra Fisher-Martins is a translator and plain-language activist, and regularly speaks at Ted events. She advocates using plain-language in order for people to fully comprehend information presented to them.

How many Bucks do I give? 5/5 - you'll learn something.

Tosh.O: image source Tosh.o

Daniel Tosh is an individual that you take or leave. His humour is geared towards assessing viral videos.

He first appeared back in '09, where I first got a glimpse at his style while I was living in Saskatoon (when it's cold, you retreat to the internet for entertainment!)

His style is sarcastic, witty and mildly offensive, but effective in that he helps to put a better spin on already hilarious internet videos.

Tosh.0 can also be found blogging on Comedy Central, and caught doing some rather interesting things.

How many Bucks do I give? 4/5. Have a laugh.

My Drunk Kitchen

I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I sit at home and have a drink, or two - ok, lots. I'm just kidding...

Hannah Hart isn't kidding, though. This girl can drink, and combines it with cooking.

Breaking into the comedy world via the Internet, Hannah has risen to fame with her shenanigans of cooking while intoxicated. She's had success, being featured in TIME, on CBS News, and the Huffington Post, just to name a few of her accolades.

Check Hannah's videos for some how-to in the kitchen, and giggle a bit while you're there.

How many Bucks do I give? 3.5/5. Entertaining, silly, and fun to watch.

The Young Turks: source TYTnetwork.com

The largest online news show network in the world. And it's not bad.

Working in news myself, I find TYT has a bit of an opinionated slant to it, but they do deliver the news - as news should be: facts.

I first tuned into TYT after finding it randomly through content I had been tuning into. Larger corporate, main media outlets are often associated with political influences, so I try to refrain from gathering my information from them.

TYT has come a long way since they first started, and their broadcasts have gotten better.

It's informative, useful and well received. It boasts 809 million views on its YouTube channel, and around 250,000 views per day.

How many Bucks do I give? 4/5. Informative, relevant, and a different take on news.

The list of the things I watch on the internet could go on for days...and it does, I've actually tabulated it once. That said, I tend to find new content from websites that I currently tune into. YouTube is famous for providing related material to what you're already watching, and YouTube does indeed have shows.

These are some websites I tune into frequently, either to educate myself, satisfy curiosity, or satiate my hunger for content.
